Description

You will demonstrate a passion for performance-oriented analytics and will have your ear to the ground in music communities for the latest sounds and trends, with a focus on pop culture in the UK and Ireland. As an Editor, you will be encouraged to make data informed decisions, and bring deep cultural and music expertise and insights to craft highly engaging music experiences for listeners. Above all, your work will impact the way the world experiences music!
What You'll Do
  • Be a culture expert and proactively identify music trends and opportunities for Spotify.
  • Play an editorial role in Spotify’s music strategy with a particular focus on pop music and pop culture.
  • Listen to music from a wide range of genres and identify appropriate programming and promotional strategies as well as content gaps.
  • Curate, analyse and maintain a large number of playlists for a mixture of audiences, moods and moments.
  • Understand and gain insight into consumer behaviours by analysing data and analytics.
  • Work cross-functionally with other internal teams to fulfill company strategic goals and cross-functional projects.
  • Present and report on strategic and creative projects within the market.
  • Collaborate with a global editorial team on a variety of projects and programming initiatives.
  • Work closely with product teams to integrate human music expertise and cultural insights into product development and features.
  • Provide a strong, unbiased editorial voice to create a first-class user experience.

Requirements

Who You Are
  • You have at least 3 years experience in the music industry, programming music for TV, radio or other media networks where connecting and serving audiences with artists, creators and music in today’s music landscapes have been an integral part of your job and mission.
  • You have a deep knowledge of music and culture, with a focus on Pop and Pop Culture in the UK and Ireland.
  • You are numerate and adept at analysing and interpreting data, and using it to set goals.
  • You have a deep understanding of music from across all genres and styles and a keen sense of what makes music appropriate for different situations as well as an ability to identify great songs to fit different programming opportunities.
  • You have a proven track record of discovering emerging artists, songs, and trends ahead of the mainstream.
  • You’re able to demonstrate a strong understanding of - and experience with - Spotify as a user and fan.
  • You possess a good level of written and spoken English, and have strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Finally, you're a great teammate, adapt well to change, you care about attention to detail and always have a positive attitude.
