Curator
Description
Do you live, breathe and sleep music? Do you have a strong sense of the potential in a song, artist or genre and is your passion to understand the latest trends within music? Would you find it meaningful to work with making life easier for music creators and impacting the music industry by liberating creativity? Then we have a perfect role for you as a Curator in our team, working with the curation of Tracklib’s unique and growing catalog of original recordings. This includes identifying rightsholders (labels and publishers), analyzing different music catalogs and curating selections and collections for our music service – tracklib.com. Join the growing curation team within our rightsholder relations organization and make your mark on the global music industry.
Tracklib is a growing and distributed company, and we thrive on openness + constant and clear communication. The catalog team at Tracklib consists of 10 people and serves one overall purpose: to build, curate and maintain a quality music catalog. According to us, quality means savvy curation and customer satisfaction. We want to extend our team of networking music enthusiasts with a Curator to maintain music quality and sampleability. A typical day for you would consist of identifying and locating music and rights holders to target (this includes labels, publishers, artists, estates, film, tv & game studios), as well as suggesting the best selection of music from their catalog, pre and post-signing. Your role would also include selecting music for collections in our service, making playlists for artists and producers, and responding to incoming catalog inquiries. You will work closely with Magnus, our Head of A&R and the rest of the Catalog team.
Aside from building one of the most innovative music services in the world, team conversations at Tracklib often revolve around music, food, and games. We have an open team culture where all ideas are welcome, and initiatives are encouraged and where and it’s safe to fail. We offer you a flexible environment where you, as we grow, will have the opportunity to take on new assignments and grow with us.
Requirements
As a Curator, analyzing and explaining to others why a certain song/artist/genre is relevant or not is something that comes naturally to you. You are focused on quality by being able to understand user behavior and needs. We believe that you can match the users behaviors and needs to the expansion of Tracklib’s unique music catalog, but also take it to the next step of translating it into curated and commercially viable selections. Sometimes you will have to quickly assess potential and value, where we think some decision making skills can come handy. You also have:
- Curation experience – e.g. DJ, Record store (analog or digital) and/or music production
- Knowledge about playlisting, editorial/journalism/radio and A&R across different genres
International work experience or a connection to sampling (electronic, jazz, funk, latin, reggae, folk and traditional music) will also be useful in this role.
This role is based in Stockholm, Sweden, but we are open to candidates working remotely from Amsterdam, London or Berlin. Unrestricted work authorization to work and live in the European Union is needed. Since Tracklib, unfortunately, cannot offer sponsorship, only eligible candidates will be considered.
This job has expired but you can still explore other open positions from the same company or find new ones from our amazing selection.
