Description

We are looking for a Video Production Coordinator to support our news video studio operations in New York City. You will work closely with cinematographers, video journalists, and producers on a daily basis to set up, facilitate, and strike our video studio productions. You will also support the management and organization of our video equipment as well as our video studios, including maintenance, organization, and scheduling.
You have expertise in the technical aspects of video production, a strong knack for problem solving, and experience in a high-pressure, fast-moving digital news video environment. You need to be an effective communicator, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once and work with a wide array of team members.
This is a hybrid position based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance.
Responsibilities
  • Support The Times’s video studio and equipment operations, including video productions, equipment and scheduling.
  • Troubleshoot production and equipment issues as they arise.
  • Support the organization and inventory of our equipment and make recommendations on the Unit’s needs for the year, always with an eye towards keeping the department at maximum cost-efficiency.
  • Support the technical work associated with live video.
  • Keep the department up to date with the latest technologies to support the quality of Times videos.
  • Make recommendations and identify best practices that will improve our overall production.
  • Work closely with the video operations team to develop and implement new workflows.
  • Perform related work as assigned.
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.
  • You will report to the Manager of Cinematography.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience in video production technology or operations.
  • Expertise in the technical aspects of media production and a deep understanding of video production equipment and its costs.
  • Expertise in Canon video production equipment.
  • Experience in a high-pressure digital video environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to improvise and work around complex problems to deliver solutions in important moments.
  • Experience with editing and/or camera operating.
  • Experience teaching others how to use video equipment such as cameras, lenses, and lights.
  • Highly organized, an eye for detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deliver effective training in both in person and remote environments.
  • Willingness to work evenings or weekends as news demands.

The annual base pay range for this role is between:
$112,145.38 - $113,000 USD
