Position: Video Editor (Part Time up to 29 hours/week)

Salary Range: $20-$25 - hourly
Position Summary
The LA Phil is seeking a part-time Video Editor whose abilities as a multi-faceted creative and hands-on team member will shape the visual language of video content across the LA Phil’s various brands, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Hollywood Bowl, Walt Disney Concert Hall, The Ford, and YOLA. The ideal candidate will contribute their depth of experience with visual storytelling from behind the camera to the editing bay using their proven editing acumen and fluency with motion graphics. This role will require a highly collaborative team player with exemplary visual and auditory judgment as well as the willingness to develop new skills in a growth-oriented, fast-paced creative environment.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Understand LA Phil’s strategic brand messaging and tone in order to conceptualize and execute video content that advances those narratives.
  • Ensure projects are held to a high creative standard and delivered on time.
  • Manage all elements of original video content with a focus on both production and post-production, including narrative storytelling, promotional and institutional videos, motion graphics, audio post-production, distribution, and video and audio capture.
  • Source, edit, and clear rights for internal video assets that need to be shared with outside stakeholders such as news media or artists.
  • Ensure music copyright and licensing requirements are met for each project.
  • Help manage internal and external production crews, locations, and schedules, and support interview captures with VIPs when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Digital, Social Media and PR teams to develop and execute video content strategy for the LA Phil, Hollywood Bowl, and The Ford across owned channels, including websites, social and digital platforms, and video series.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally across departments and with stakeholders to solicit input, respond to requests, and integrate feedback.
  • Help to manage and maintain video assets, gear inventory, video archive and information security.
  • Embrace emerging video platforms, capture and production techniques including 360 and VR.
  • Additional duties, as assigned.

Job Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in video production.
  • Strong cinematography skills, including gaffing, camera support and stabilization.
  • Strong storytelling abilities, keen editorial judgment, and proven motion graphics skills.
  • Skilled in Premiere, After Effects, Media Encoder, Davinci Resolve, Photoshop, and Audition or Logic Pro X.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Considerable tact required in most duties or tasks performed to achieve results.
  • Must be highly organized, efficient, and proactive.
  • A proven ability to work under tight deadlines and facilitate quick turnarounds.
  • Able to leverage internal resources to secure relevant information to complete projects.
  • Ability to master new concepts quickly and adapt to emerging practices.
  • Awareness and dedication to creating connections across diverse audiences.
  • Live performance experience and a passion for music and concerts.
  • High awareness of industry standards, digital trends, and technological innovations.
  • Copy editing, proofreading, fact checking, research and/or writing as required.
  • Opportunities for in-venue and onsite captures as they arise.
  • Flexibility to work onsite on nights and weekends.
Preferred, But Not Required
  • Working knowledge of classical music preferred.
  • Fluency in or conversational knowledge of Spanish a plus.
  • Fluency in or conversational knowledge of another language a plus.
  • Notable experience with location mixing, post audio, and music supervision a plus.
  • Experience with live video and/or broadcast for concerts or theatre a plus.
