Staff Writer
Description
HITS Magazine is seeking a staff writer with at least 5 years of experience covering the music industry. Knowledge of the industry and its players is a prerequisite.
The writer will be responsible for writing knowledgeably, perceptively and (if possible) humorously about a varying range of topics that affect the music industry. This role requires being able to take frequent assignments (such as press releases, quarterly earnings reports and newsworthy events) and generate good, clear copy with some personality that maintains the facts in a timely manner. This is not the position to indulge your muse. In addition to posting directly to our website and magazine, the writer will have the opportunity to pitch ideas for features and report on long-lead articles.
This is a part-time position with the potential for a full-time position after a 90 day review. Pay will be based on experience.
Requirements
Knowledge of the industry and its players is a prerequisite. Do not apply if you can't name the heads of the major label groups, labels, publishers and agencies without Google.
Please note that this is a remote position that will operate based on Pacific Coast Time and must be responsive and strictly adhere to deadlines regardless of any time differences. Must be unafraid of short deadlines, steep learning curves and the infamous ''cesspool'' sensibility of the industry's most notorious trade publication.
