Sound Designer
Description
- Oversee audio projects solo and as a part of the Sound Design team.
- Responsible for developing editors’ audio sweetening skillset in conjunction with sound design workflows.
- Maintain a knowledge of audio sweetening and trends to stay updated with the industry.
- Develop creative opportunities with production partners and collaborators to ensure an efficient provision of resources and personnel to achieve desired results.
- Oversees and audio sweetens a wide range of assignments and equipment within the Sound Design environment at an experienced level.
- Knowledge of project specifications, equipment, and troubleshooting practices.
- Recommend adjustments as well as project needs while maintaining maximum creativity and flexibility.
- Assist the team in implementing development initiatives to improve creativity and audio competency of the Edit staff.
- Must have the ability to train and learn new techniques and software platforms that align with industry needs and trends.
- Must have basic knowledge to troubleshoot equipment and software issues.
Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of audio sweetening or related audio experience.
- Mixing experience utilizing Avid Pro Tools.
- Knowledge of time-based processing (reverb, delay, etc.)
- Knowledge of spectral processing (EQ, filters, etc.)
- Knowledge of dynamic processing (compression, expansion, gates, etc.)
- Ability to work in a team under tight deadlines is critical.
- Candidates must have good computer background (MS Office, Slack, OneDrive, file formatting, etc.)
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Flexibility to work overtime and alter shifts/days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives.
- Proficient in Avid Pro tools and signal flow.
- Knowledge of sound effects libraries and sfx librarian software such as Soundminer.
- Experience using noise reduction tools to clean dialogue such as Izotope RX.
- Familiar with sound for picture workflows.
- Ability to search, cut, and conform sound effects and music to picture.
- Skilled in dialogue, sound effects, and music editing.
- The ability to organize sound effects libraries.
- Knowledge of Adobe Media Encoder.
- Has in-depth knowledge and can further develop in sound design and audio sweetening.
- Knowledge of PC or Mac operating systems.
- Bilingual (written and spoken) in both English and Spanish.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree in Sound Recording, Audio, Music, or related field
- Vocational School or related experience
