Royalty Coordinator
Description
Songtrust is looking for a Royalty Coordinator to join our Royalties team. We strive to provide our songwriters and artist clients with an extraordinary rights management service. You will be focused on processing incoming royalty statements and assisting the Assistant Royalty Manager with ad hoc projects and analyses. Your work will directly contribute to our goal of being the leading rights management firm in the industry.
At this time we are still working from home, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues. This position ideally will start remotely, but be based local to our Los Angeles, New York, or Portland OR offices.
What you'll be doing:
- Analyze, review, and process incoming royalty statements
- Inbound royalty reconciliation of cash to statement details
- Analyze, create, and present suggestions for process improvements and efficiencies
- Assist in processing income in backlog, error, suspense, client adjustments, etc.
- Support internal and external rights holders and partners (e.g. PROs, DSPs, etc.) to ensure that royalty-related issues get resolved quickly
- Complete ad hoc projects as needed
After 3 months you'll have:
- Experience with a full quarter's royalty cycle, from payment to distribution
- Basic comprehension of how Songtrust operates, collects, and distributes royalties
- Exposure and understanding of the detailed metadata received from PRO/DSPs/Pay Sources
Requirements
- Basic music industry knowledge and internship experience
- Understanding of global music publishing royalty landscape a plus
- Passion for music, numbers, and analyzing large data sets
- A strong analytical mind and experience with Excel and SQL
- Experience with Counterpoint Music Maestro is a plus
- A strong desire to improve music publishing and rights management processes
- Resourceful, flexible, and exceptional teamwork skills
- Ability to take initiative in a fast-paced, high productivity environment with tight deadlines
