Royalty Associate
Description
- Retrieve statements via email, portals, FTPs, etc. Reconcile statements to inbound royalty payments
- Calculate and distribute royalty statements to our global client base
- Maintain relationships with DA&LS distribution clients through e-mail correspondence regarding royalties and statements
- Assist with bulk matching statements in our royalty processing system
- Provide support to our A/R, Operations, Client Services, and Marketing Teams
- Complete ad hoc projects as needed
- Research labels, albums, artists, and revenue splits
- Track monetary advances and commissions monthly
- Estimate DSP (digital service provider) royalties monthly
- A firm grasp of how to read and interpret a royalty statement
- Insight into the DSPs that we work with, their reporting practices, and statement analytics
- Exposure to and experience with royalty cycles, from reporting to payment and distribution
- A practical understanding of our proprietary product and infrastructure
- Basic comprehension of how D&ALS operates, collects, and distributes royalties
- Exposure to and understanding of the detailed metadata received from DSPs/Pay Sources
- Understanding of how to process international wire, direct deposit, and PayPal payments
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Finance, Accounting, or related field
- 1-2+ years of professional experience (the following environments preferred: streaming service, distributor, record label, artist management, PR, booking agency)
- Passion for music, publishing and royalties
- Experience with and facility for working with large data set
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Comfort with regular communication via Zendesk, e-mail and video conferencing platforms
- Excellent communication skills, both in a B2B and B2C environment
- Strong attention to detail, highly organized and extremely motivated
- Ability to self-manage and multi-task workload in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Outstanding analytical skills
- Diligence in managing a range of clients with excellent follow-through
- Proficiency in multiple languages a plus (French, Spanish)
- Positive, level-headed attitude with excellent time and stress management
- Understanding of global music royalty landscape a plus
- Familiarity with QuickBooks or accounting systems such as NetSuite or Dynamics a plus
