Remote Guitar Coach for Paul Davids: Help students play better!
Description
Join the team of Paul Davids as a guitar coach!
Paul is the creator behind the YouTube channel Paul Davids Guitar, with 3.4 million subscribers. He has helped thousands of guitarists improve their playing through his five best-selling online guitar courses, including Next Level Playing and Learn, Practice, Play.
Many students are eager to learn, but struggle to practice and play consistently, and could use some guidance, feedback, and accountability to help them stay motivated.
To help students with this, Paul is working on something new…
A cohort-based program to give students step-by-step support, feedback, and accountability as they go through lessons in one of Paul's online courses!
To help with this, we are looking for 4 or 5 experienced guitar teachers to join Paul's team as coaches in the program.
As a guitar coach, you will:
- Lead a weekly Zoom call for a group of 25–30 enthusiastic guitar students, answering their questions and providing guidance and accountability for practicing
- Follow up weekly with each student in your group, to see how their practice is going and give them practical encouragement
- Give prompt individual video feedback in response to student videos submitted every week or two, for every member of your cohort group
- Keep an eye on attendance and participation, and reach out to any students who seem to be struggling
- Act as an admin for the online community space for your cohort group — responding to posts, starting discussions, offering feedback, and curating a fun and energetic vibe so everyone in your group will feel welcome to participate and connect with each other
Before the first cohort begins, you’ll work with Paul's team to learn everything about his courses, how to run the weekly calls, how to provide feedback to students, and everything else you’ll need to do a stellar job in supporting course members.
Depending on how many groups you’ll lead, we estimate it’ll take between 20 and 30 hours per week while we run the first cohort, with the possibility of growing into a full-time role on Paul's team over time.
The first cohort will run for 10 weeks, from June 17th through August 23rd.
The Zoom call you lead will be set at a specific time, but you’ll be able to set your own flexible schedule for the rest of the role and can work from anywhere as long as you have reliable, stable, high-speed internet (especially for video calls). To fully support students, you’ll need to plan on checking into the community platform five days per week at times of your choosing.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should be an experienced professional guitar teacher and player.
The guitar coach role is a perfect fit for you if…
- You play and teach guitar professionally and are familiar with Paul's channel
- You love encouraging students and inspiring them to reach their goals on the guitar
- You feel right at home leading a Zoom call and making students feel supported there
- You have great organizational skills for following up with each student
- You are 100% reliable. Paul can count on you to care for his course members
We’re still working out some of the details. As one of the first coaches, you’ll help shape the program while we figure out what works best for supporting students!
The plan is to slowly grow this over time and work with a handful of teachers for a long time to come.
TO APPLY: Send a short email, written in English, to team@learnpracticeplay.com.
In your email, let us know why you’d be a great fit for the role, and tell us a bit about your experience as a guitar teacher (or player), your familiarity with the Paul Davids Guitar channel or courses (if any), and where you are located. Please do not include a resume or CV.
In addition to your written note, please also include a link to a 1-minute video to introduce yourself and share a bit of your playing.
Feel free to play whatever you enjoy playing, or even an exercise you use with your students, and tell Paul what you like about it. This isn’t an audition for you as a player, but just for us to get a sense of your vibe as a teacher and person and your setup. (Do your best to make the video look and sound good, but don’t worry if it isn’t perfect now; we’ll help you improve any small tech issues before the cohort begins). Simply upload the video to Google Drive, adjust the permissions so our team can access it, and include the link in your email.
The deadline for applications is May 24th.
For those selected for the next steps, we will send over three sample videos of students for you to provide written and video feedback.
We’ll aim to get back to everyone, and if you’re selected you can expect to hear from us by May 28th.
