Producer IV- Left, Right & Center

KCRW team

Description

About the job
Who We Are
KCRW is a public media leader, creating and curating a unique mix of content centered around music discovery, NPR news, cultural exploration and informed public affairs. We are driven by the spirit of Los Angeles and deliver in innovative ways -- on the radio, digitally and in person -- to diverse, curious communities around the corner and around the world.
How You’ll Make An Impact
KCRW is looking for a creative and experienced audio producer interested in two things that don’t often go together: national politics and resolving differences.
Left, Right & Center is KCRW's weekly politics show where we take on the tough, divisive issues you're afraid to talk about with your own family, distributed as a highly-successful podcast and broadcast here in LA and on stations across the country.
The show recently brought on a new host who is very familiar to public radio audiences, David Greene, the former co-host of NPR’s Morning Edition.
With a new host, we are looking for a producer ready to pursue creative ideas that are outside of the box to bring a rich, diverse mix of voices into our conversations on the week’s political news. We want to engage listeners wherever they may find us – whether on the radio, in a podcast feed, on social media, or even in person.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Content Director for News, who is the executive producer of the program. This position is in the SAG-AFTRA Bargaining Unit.
Hybrid work schedule is available for select positions.
KCRW has in effect a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all employees beginning September 15, 2021. The mandate is subject to accommodation in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
What You’ll Do
  • Ensure weekly production of KCRW’s Left, Right & Center for radio broadcast and digital/podcast distribution.
  • Conceive, book and write segments on national and international political issues.
  • Cut show segments using desktop audio editing software
  • Work with the show host and executive producer to plan each week’s program.
  • Maintain relationships with panelists and other potential guests.
  • Maintain a database of booking contacts.
  • Produce promotional materials for the show.
  • Execute social engagement strategies, in conjunction with KCRW’s audience team.
  • Occasional field and/or live event production is possible.
  • Other duties as assigned.
