The New York Philharmonic connects with up to 50 million music lovers each season through live concerts in New York and around the world, as well as broadcasts, recordings, and education programs. The 2022–23 season marks a new chapter in the life of America’s longest living orchestra with the opening of the reimagined David Geffen Hall and programming that engages with today’s cultural conversations through explorations of HOME, LIBERATION, SPIRIT, and EARTH, in addition to the premieres of 16 works. This marks the return from the pandemic, when the NY Phil launched NY Phil Bandwagon, presenting free performances across the city, and 2021–22 concerts at other New York City venues.
The New York Philharmonic seeks a Coordinator, Marketing & Audience Engagement to join the marketing team. The position will work closely with the Direct Marketing Manager and the Email Marketing Manager to support direct mail and email campaigns, in addition to assisting the Director, Growth Marketing with audience loyalty initiatives. This position is for someone who wants to learn, as well as grow their skills in a variety of direct marketing efforts.
Responsibilities include:
Email Marketing Responsibilities
  • Assisting the Email Marketing Manager in planning, producing, segmenting, and A/B testing email campaigns. This includes campaigns that reactivate existing customers and acquire new audiences, leading to increased ticket sales.
  • Create emails that fit brand standards through imagery, tone, and overall execution.
  • Manage our email subscriber database in Tessitura, including creating and updating lists and segmenting data for targeted email campaigns.
Direct Mail Responsibilities
  • Assist the Direct Marketing Manager with direct mail campaigns, including helping to create and proof at least 20 mass direct marketing pieces.
  • Assist in the reviewing and routing of marketing materials as needed.
  • Communicate with external vendors, which include printers, mailhouses, data processors, and list-purchase and trade organizations.
  • Research and segment list selections in Tessitura’s Extraction Manager for mass and targeted campaigns.
  • Own list trade requests by providing prompt approvals or denials to requesting entities, in addition to requesting list trades with external organizations, under the guidance of the Direct Marketing Manager.
Audience Loyalty Responsibilities
  • Support the Director, Growth Marketing on initiatives to improve customer loyalty and increase lifetime value and profitability including the annual season subscription campaign.
  • Work cross-functionally with the marketing team, customer relations, and digital teams to align messaging and initiatives across multiple platforms and departments.
  • Assist with at-venue Marketing activities, including loyalty marketing initiatives and on-site activations and activities.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Document workflows and business practices for Growth Marketing work.
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements:
College degree or equivalent work experience. Experience with database management and CRM software systems, preferably Tessitura. Experience in email marketing using email campaign management tools (Wordfly). Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, the ability to learn technical systems and in-house tools quickly, and an ability to communicate ideas and campaign results effectively both verbally and in writing. Candidate must be deadline driven and highly organized with a curious mind and passionate focus for things related to marketing and audience loyalty. Knowledge of music or arts marketing is not required, but is appreciated.
