THE JOB
The Assistant Production Manager is responsible for all off-stage, backstage, and non-technical details of concerts and events. This includes advancing and obtaining hospitality, VIP, and merchandise information, as well as rider requirements, staffing, scheduling, and operational needs,
What This Role Will Do
  • Ensure positive and creative environment for Production team
  • Assist day-of-show in maintaining department standards for all production positions
  • Develop and maintain department manuals and training materials for all production positions
  • Assist and support production department personnel with job functions as needed
  • Complete and distribute a daily show flash (P&L) of every event
  • Have a detailed understanding of deal structure and the settlement process
  • Assist in in managing budgetary requirements and tracking the financial aspects of shows
  • Create and maintain daily band cost spreadsheet
  • Ensure production department is following standard operating procedures
  • Implement daily and weekly show schedule
  • Work with the Production Manager scheduling appropriate number of staff while maintaining labor costs within the assigned budgetary guidelines
  • Ensure all procedures are cost effective
  • Maintain regular communications with Production Manager and the GM
  • Advance and facilitate all tour merchandise needs
  • Collect merchandise settlements per contracted agreements
  • Facilitate proper interdepartmental communication and organization
  • Assist in managing stage, sound, and lighting crews
  • Will lead the production team for special events or shows should the production manager be unable to attend
  • Coordinate operational feedback with the Production Manager
  • Advance details for VIP Meet & Greets, Soundcheck Parties, and Backstage Experiences
  • Assist with operation needs of any VIP engagements
  • Advance backstage food and beverage/hospitality requirements
  • Ensure information is distributed to Production Coordinator in a timely basis
  • Responsible for scheduling casual labor such as runners and merchandise vendors
  • Advise and implement needed venue projects including upgrades and repairs
  • Attend production and operation meetings as outlined by Production Manager
  • Maintain a detailed and thorough filing system of all “past show” files on the shared drive
  • Maintain accurate daily show records
  • Responsible for documenting and delivering disciplinary actions to production crew

Requirements

What This Person Will Bring
Required:
  • Flexible Schedule (days/nights, late hours, weekends, and holidays)
  • Calm, Professional and customer service oriented
  • Ability to make clear concise decisions, sometimes with limited information
  • 3 years minimum Tour and Stage Production experience
  • Strong people skills with an emphasis on competent and diplomatic communication with tour/production manager representatives
  • Experience in stage lighting, pro audio systems and basic video systems
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Computer literate in Windows applications (Excel and Word a must)
  • Must possess superior interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  • High School Diploma
  • Tolerance of all cultures, music, and art forms
Preferred:
  • Some College or College Degree in related field
  • Point of Sales knowledge
  • Multitasking Skills
  • Cash handling experience
  • Experience in a live music environment
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
  • Working environment is fast-paced and often loud and stressful
  • Position requires extended periods of prolonged standing, lifting, bending, reaching, and working on your feet
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 75 lbs using proper lifting techniques
  • Tolerance of loud noise level in working environment
  • Able to wear a radio earpiece during the scheduled shift

Benefits & Perks

The expected compensation for this position in California is:
  • $64,480.00 USD - $80,000.00 USD
