As the Licensing Associate, you will support either the Television clearance team or the Film/Video Game/New Media clearance team. The primary purpose of this position is to field various requests from synch clients, secure necessary approvals, negotiate fees for synch licenses, and assist in improving processes and strategies at the direction of department leadership.
What you'll do:
- Receive, respond and handle requests from synch clients for quotes for synch fees.
- Research and confirm company’s rights to songs, including coordinating with internal departments to ensure relevant information is populated and accurate in internal systems.
- Enter all relevant deal/quote information into company’s database in a timely manner and ensure data in database is complete and accurate.
- Secure approvals, as required and negotiate fees with synch clients.
- Coordinate with and support contract administration staff to ensure licenses are being drafted and delivered in a timely manner.
- Follow up on quotes to secure confirmations.
- Act as internal point person on deals. Maintain ownership and responsibility for dealing from request through confirmation.
- Perform other duties and tasks assigned.
Requirements
What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in music business or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of synchronization licensing experience required, preferably at a music publisher or record label.
- Demonstrated knowledge of music clearance & licensing concepts required. Also, you must have an understanding of copyright concepts as they relate to musical recordings, compositions, artwork, etc.
- Experience providing a high level of customer service, including ability to handle high-volume correspondence and projects.
- Ability to work well under pressure and balance multiple concurrent assignments with conflicting priorities and deadlines.
- Establish and maintain important external alliances with clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Must be highly organized and detail oriented.
- Strong data-entry skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
- Must be highly proficient in various computer programs including FileMaker Pro, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook, Access)
- Ability to handle and safeguard highly confidential, sensitive or proprietary information.
*This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days minimum on-site.
