Federal Films, the film, tv and new content division of Republic Records, is looking for a consultant to oversee the division.
Federal Films creates, develops, and produces scripted and unscripted content across multiple media platforms (digital, television, theatrical) and genres (music, film, series, short format, documentaries).
We are looking for a seasoned entertainment executive with a proven track record in content development, production and project management to lead this growing division. This is a consulting position (with room to grow into an in-house role) that focuses on content across multiple entertainment platforms, formats, and projects which align with Federal’s brand and culture.
Candidates should have a strong combination of creative, business and leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee a creative strategy for Federal Films by building a pipeline of original IP across multiple entertainment platforms in film, tv (scripted and unscripted), documentaries, and specials.
  • Develop a slate of original content – attach writers, directors, showrunners, review scripts, cast, budgets, creative documents, production schedules, music and other assets for development.
  • Bring in potential projects for development or acquisitions through pitches or submissions from outside companies.
  • Lead strategy and execution of pitch process to sell to distribution platforms.
  • Partner with 3rd party production companies.
- Guide and collaborate with Executive Producers on specified projects to help ensure that creative imperatives are being met.
  • Support all creative aspects of development, production and post-production.
  • Monitor production budgets and schedules.
  • Maintain quality standards and adhere to contractual and deliverable requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with talent/artists to build and package projects, leveraging relationships with artists, talent representatives, production community and independent producers
- Partner with Business and Legal Affairs to negotiate strategic deal terms with buyers, financiers, talent, outside production companies, networks, and studios for original content across entertainment formats, IP rights, and distribution/licensing.
- Communicate with senior in-house executives and other cross-functional teams regarding strategy, marketing timelines and direction of productions.
  • Inform and involve key departments on projects throughout all stages of the pipeline to maximize their value to the company
- Lead and mentor a small team/direct reports.
- Stay current on developing trends in film, networks, AVOD and SVOD platforms and identify relevant programming opportunities

Requirements

• 15+ years of experience working in a combination of Studio/Network production/development for series television and/or film
• Demonstrated ability to generate new ideas and translate them into high-quality content; creative and story development skills.
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with showrunners, talent, network executives, etc. as well as the logistical and financial side of production.
• Strong established relationships with key players in the entertainment industry including talent, agents, production companies, producers, writers, etc.
• Ability to manage outside producers, build credibility and strong working relationships with other internal executives and generate commitment to goals.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret budgets and legal documents.
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated leadership skills. Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making abilities are a must.
• Strong capability to multi-task and prioritize multiple demands as well as work in a fast-paced environment.
• Extensive knowledge of the entertainment media industry
