We are searching for a Director of Product Management, Presonus Hardware, ideally based in Los Angeles. This person will be responsible for the planning, leadership, and general supervision of Presonus hardware products with a near-term focus on live sound. The right candidate will excel at collaborating with other parts of the company, they will work with R&D and Manufacturing to define product requirements that meet the needs of the customer. Aside from product oversight, this person will be spending time with customers and artists-in the field, on the phone and on social media-to learn and understand market problems and define innovative products to solve them.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and maintain on-going market research and analysis, market segmentation and competitive analysis, in order to identify and communicate opportunities and trends
  • Conduct regular customer visits and focus groups and participate in company and end-user blogs, communities, and training to foster customer relationships and evangelize products
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of multi-year product roadmaps that optimize the company investment (cost/benefit) and ensure coordination with other product lines to optimize strategic differentiators across product lines
  • Participate in bi-annual executive product line reviews and dealer events
  • Manage the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to end of life
  • Participate in cross-functional product development teams to ensure that proposed solutions meet business objectives and are aligned with the company strategy
  • Develop product story and product requirements documents for assigned products, with a strong focus on ease of use and end user experience
  • Work closely with the Presonus software development team, including aligning software releases with content and hardware releases
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to develop product and release-specific positioning, value proposition, messaging and pricing models
  • Assure the timely delivery of new product concepts, definitions, and business cases to keep the innovation process moving constantly
  • Understand and communicate the stage gate/phase review structure including related documentation while assuring quality and timeliness of results
  • Organize and participate in Product Advisory Boards, Dealer Meetings and Executive Briefings
  • Coach and manage a team of talented product managers
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications
  • Minimum B.A. business/marketing or equivalent with further training in music and modern recording/live sound practices
  • 10+ years of experience in live sound and/or recording industry, ideally including audio networking and/or live streaming audio and video
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution with the ability to analyze financial and market data and prepare reports, statements, and projections
  • Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • PC proficiency (Windows and Mac environments, iOs and Android)
  • Strong working knowledge of common business software tools
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure handling multiple tasks simultaneously

If this is a remote position, the pay scale disclosed herein may be adjusted further based upon the applicable geographic differential associated with the location from which the successful candidate will work. Please note that it is not typical for a Fender employee to be at or near the top of the pay scale for their role – especially as a new hire – and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Subject to the foregoing, the current pay scale for this position is approximately $145,400 – $290,800 per year.
