The Role
We are seeking an experienced Data Governance Lead to join us on a 12 month maternity leave contract (expected start May 2024). This is a key role in the development, implementation and oversight of end to end Data Governance at PRS for Music.
Partnering closely with business and technology teams, the Data Governance Lead supports the Head of Data Governance to embed best practices, improve data quality and reduce compliance risk – enabling the organisation to gain better insights and inform decision-making processes.
Data and Data Governance are core parts of PRS’s strategic objectives and as such, the Data Governance Lead has an important role in driving, co-ordinating and contributing to the various programmes of work that are addressing gaps in data maturity across the full breadth of people, process & technology.
The role holder is expected to be a data governance subject matter expert who can apply their experience to complex business problems and can comfortably work across multiple, concurrent streams of activity. They are the ‘go to’ point of contact for PRS’s network of Data Owners and Stewards and will be able to support them with governance processes and the creation and maintenance of key artefacts, including PRS’s Data Policies and Data Glossary.

Responsibilities
As our Data Governance Lead, you will work with the Head of Data Governance to embed effective data governance with the organisation, reviewing progress and instigating improvements to achieve best practice within PRS for Music. Some of your day to day duties will include...
Arrange, organise and manage the agenda for the Data Steering Group and Data Working Group meetings including supporting the preparation of submissions for discussion and approval. Ensure that all data governance artefacts are appropriately developed and maintained including the PRS Glossary, Data Policies, data ownership, stewardship and accountability lists, system maps and other documentation as requested Support the Data Stewards in the maintenance of the PRS Glossary and the preparation and maintenance of Data Policies. Support the Head of Data Governance with the design and delivery of a comprehensive communication and engagement plan. Ensuring that key artefacts and decisions are effectively shared as well as driving ongoing usage and adoption of data governance resources, tools and processes. Lead on the coordination and implementation of a data maturity framework, including ongoing measurement and reporting of key metrics to show progress and performance. Contribute to the evaluation and assessment of new data tools, systems and processes providing project management and oversight of Proof of Value and Minimum Viable Product activities and the definition of success criteria against which they can be measured

Requirements

About You

  • Highly knowledgeable in data governance, data classification, data strategy, data quality management, data security and privacy, MDM and data standards
  • Be able to quickly assimilate an understanding of the data governance and quality frameworks as well as the operation of the data team and key data roles and the wider operation of the PRS business
  • Ability to work at a fast pace and sometimes to tight deadlines
  • Ideally an outline knowledge of related disciplines such as data warehousing, business intelligence (BI), data architecture
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Three years experience in data governance and ideally data quality management
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, ideally in a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
