In addition, Concord Music Publishing is home to Boosey & Hawkes, the world’s leading classical music publisher, Pulse Music Group (exclusive joint-venture) and The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization.
As the Creative Director, Publishing A&R, you will assist in the procurement and management of the songwriter roster, as well as the exploitation of the publishing catalog out of the Nashville office. You will assist with all creative endeavors, including identifying talent, developing talent (to include songwriters/producers/artists), as well as exploiting copyrights owned/controlled by Concord. The Publishing A&R department represents a musically diverse roster of songwriters/producers/recording artists across the globe. Our goal is to serve our songwriting roster and provide the environment and support to help each client become the most successful creator that they can be. What you'll do:
  • Pitching our writers’ songs for cuts on artists projects
  • Learn who is looking, through building relationships with A&R, Managers, Producers, Artists, & Publishers in Nashville
  • Actively seeking new talent to sign to our Concord Roster
  • Attending shows & online research
  • Building relationships with booking agents, managers, lawyers, & PROs
  • Maintaining and nourishing the relationships with our current writer roster
  • Staying in communication with roster on a regular basis
  • Checking with them on how sessions go
  • Help to set & achieve writers’ goals
  • Actively seeking new opportunities for our writers to be working with artists who are writing for their projects.
  • Staying in communication with A&R, managers, & producers to know who what artists are actively writing for their next project.
  • Building & maintaining relationships with label A&Rs, managers, publishers, & producers in Nashville.
  • Taking specified individuals out to lunch, dinner, or drinks
  • Booking sessions for writers, as well as, overseeing the management of writer’s calendars.
  • Ensure that writers are aware of time/date/location of co-writes, and is clearly entered in writers’ calendars.
  • Overseeing the responsibilities of the Creative Coordinator.
  • Through daily meetings, communication via slack, & being cc’ed on emails when needed.

Requirements

  • 4+ years publishing & music industry experience
  • Clear Communication skills needed for extensive, and often complicated relationships with other publishing companies, songwriters, etc.
  • Organizational skills providing for thorough follow through
  • Knowledge of market trends on a creative level
