Creative Copywriter
Description
- Write original marketing copy — for web, print, email, radio, TV, and social media — that will achieve our campaign goals for the orchestra season, as well as concerts presented by LA Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, and The Ford.
- Contribute ideas to a cross-functional team to discover the concepts and stories that will power the LA Phil’s communication strategy and marketing year to year.
- Distill large amounts of information into clear, concise, and creative messaging.
- Revise, repurpose and edit materials as needed for advertising, social, and web.
- Produce copy that adheres to LA Phil style and reflects our brand voice.
- Ensure that the LA Phil speaks with authority and accuracy on classical music while also communicating in a manner that engages all our potential audiences.
- Anticipate communication needs, take initiative on tasks, and spot opportunities to reach new audiences.
- Stay current with industry trends and apply them strategically.
- Assist in writing program inserts, signage, and handouts.
- Write or edit documents for fundraising, education programs or other departments.
- Proofread concert listings, PR materials, institutional materials, bios, program notes, inserts.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree
- 3+ years experience writing marketing copy, preferably related to music
- Excellent creative as well as technical writing ability
- Solid knowledge of classical music repertoire and artists
- Familiar with popular music genres
- Standard technological competence (computer skills)
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Self-starter who is flexible and has a positive attitude
- Dedication and commitment to engage in and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the staff, vendors, and within interactions with the surrounding community is a must
- Secondary language fluency is a plus
