Associate Music Director

Role Overview
Under the guidance of the Artistic Director, the Associate Music Director will play a key role in the musical direction and artistic support of the UVP Performance Ensemble. The Associate Music Director also facilitates other UVP Programs, including Neighborhood Sing, Music Labs (Education & Wellness), Buskfest, and others as fit, and supports the general administration of UVP Programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Choir Music Direction: play supporting and leading artistic roles for UVP Performance Ensemble performances and rehearsals (Choir Direction, Accompaniment)
- Choir Artistic Support & Administration: Prepare charts and practice tools, Songwriting and arrangement for original music, Choir management and band staffing, Lead Choir committees
- Programs Facilitation (Non-Choir): Facilitate supportive music Programs in co-teaching and solo models, Support musical direction of annual special events
- General Choir & Programs Admin: Research and integrate best practices for program facilitation and leadership, Sound tech and setup & breakdown support for choir and staffed programs, maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in the Performing Arts or relevant fields. Equivalent experience considered in lieu of formal education.
- A minimum 5 years of experience working in choir and vocal instruction.
- A minimum 5 years of experience, knowledge, and appreciation of music education.
- Ability to self-accompany for rehearsals and performances with instrument(s), accompaniment tracks less preferred but acceptable.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a small team environment.
- Ability to complete hybrid work with a remote, home office.
- Ability to travel and transport equipment for programs and gigs in the LA regional area.
- Proficiency with Google Suite strongly preferred, other software proficiency a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and inclusivity.
- Experience serving vulnerable communities is preferred.
- Conflict management, crisis prevention, and/or mediation skills preferred.
- Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.

- Pay range $26/hour – $30/hour commensurate with experience. This is a part-time (20-25h), non-exempt position.
