Associate Manager, Music Policy, Spotify for Artists

Spotify team

Description

We’re looking for a curious, analytical, and passionate team member to join the Spotify for Artists Marketing & Policy team — part of Spotify’s division dedicated to ensuring Spotify is the most rewarding and powerful platform for artists to grow their careers and businesses. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of music by supporting the development and execution of policies that affect millions of artists worldwide.
The Spotify for Artists policy team focuses on crafting and implementing policies that ensure fair and equitable opportunities for artists, songwriters, distributors, labels, and publishers on Spotify — and educating the industry about our platform. The team works on topics including how Spotify’s $10 billion+ annual royalty pool is allocated, reducing incentives for bad actors, and preparing our platform for future trends and technologies in music, like AI.
As an Associate Manager, you’ll play a critical role in executing high-impact policy initiatives — from research and policy development to internal coordination and external communications. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners across Licensing, Marketing, Public Affairs, Product, Music Partnerships, and more.
What You'll Do
  • Support the development and execution of policies around royalty administration, artificial streaming, new music technologies, platform rules, and more.
  • Conduct research and competitive analysis to help inform policy decisions.
  • Assist in crafting clear, accessible messaging about existing and new policies — contributing to scaled education initiatives for artists, songwriters, distributors, and rights holders.
  • Help track industry trends, feedback, and data in partnership with cross-functional teams like Data Science, Music Economics, and Music Partnerships.
  • Coordinate policy launches across internal teams, ensuring consistency and clarity in our communications and implementation.
  • Collaborate with other teams to gather input, share insights, and support Spotify’s broader music strategy.

Requirements

Who You Are
  • You have 2+ years of relevant experience in the music industry, policy, legal, or technology platforms — and a passion for helping artists thrive.
  • You’re energized by translating complex topics into clear, actionable insights.
  • You’re detail-oriented and organized, with a bias for action and an ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • You’re a strong communicator and collaborator, eager to learn from others and contribute to team goals.
  • You love music and believe in building a more transparent, equitable future for artists and songwriters.
  • You’re curious and proactive — excited to learn, grow, and make an impact at scale.
Where You'll Be
  • We offer you the flexibility to work where you work best! For this role, you can be within the US region as long as we have a work location.
  • This team operates within the Eastern time zone for collaboration.
