A&R Manager

As the A&R Manager, you'll be responsibile for of the Creative Manager at Concord is to participate in the procurement, management, and exploitation of Concord music publishing roster and catalog, out of the Nashville office. You will work under general supervision of SVP, A&R Publishing.
What you'll do:
- Catalog exploitation
- Actively and regularly pursue all “industry standard” efforts with the purposes of exploiting the Concord catalog by helping to secure cuts for any/all Concord owned music catalog
- Set up pitch sessions with industry professionals (A&R/producers/managers/etc) for the purpose of pitching songs for exploitation
- Set up sessions for our roster, with intentionality, with the ultimate goal of putting our writers in the best position to get their songs recorded
- Actively seek new talent to sign to the Concord Roster
- You are expected to frequently attend music events/shows, with the goals of scouting talent, obtaining strategic relationships, obtaining valuable information as it relates to new talent, competitive opportunities, etc. This includes shows after “normal” office hours, and possibly on weekends.
- Through building and utilizing relationships with booking agents, managers, lawyers, & PROs, and other key industry relationships
- New potential clients are evaluated together with SVP, A&R
- Build & maintain relationships with label A&Rs, managers, publishers, & producers in Nashville.
- By identifying high-value professional individuals, and utilizing business lunches/breakfast/dinner/etc, to develop and strengthen relationships
- Actively seek new opportunities for our writers to be working with artists who are writing for their projects.
- By staying in communication with label A&R, managers, & producers to know who what artists are actively writing for their next project
- Book sessions for writers, as well as, oversee the management of writer’s calendars.
- Ensure that writers are aware of time/date/location of sessions, and are clearly entered in writers’ calendars.
- Confirm, and communicate confirmations to writers, co-publishers, etc, for weekly sessions of clients from your appointed “admin point person” list
- Ensure that your appointed “admin point” roster clients’ songs are delivered to Song Delivery ensure that new songs are properly entered into the system for purposes of Concord administration
- Event creation and coordination
- Participate in creating, setting up, and coordinating special events that are put on by Concord, designed to bring attention to our roster and catalog. (e.g. writer nights / company shows, etc),
Requirements
What you’ll need:
- Ideally, a min of 3+ years music publishing experience, working directly with creatives (e.g. songwriters, producers, etc.)
- Clear communication skills needed for extensive, and often complicated relationships with other publishing companies, songwriters, etc.
- Organizational skills providing for thorough follow-through
- Knowledge of market trends on a creative level
- Knowledge and some experience in Nashville with both the country music scene, as well as the pop/rock scene both in Nashville, and beyond
- General skills/experience handling “normal” business software (e.g. Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc), and the willingness to learn more as needed
- A general self-start work ethic, and an understanding that a successful music publishing business is a proactive one. And this position requires someone who will perform accordingly.
*This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days minimum on-site.
