Your Mission at BMG. Your mission at BMG as a music publicist is to leverage your skills, relationships, and media knowledge to create comprehensive publicity campaigns for our diverse artist roster with a focus on both online and traditional music, lifestyle, and trade media outlets.
What You’ll Be Doing.
  • Create strategic press plans for both established artists and developing acts, spanning multiple genres, across the BMG LA Frontline and Rise Records rosters.
  • Execute national and regional press campaigns by pitching and cultivating relationships with key contacts across print, online, and broadcast media.
  • Secure feature interviews, reviews, news items, premieres, television performances, video content, and other creative publicity opportunities for artists to maximize the presence of the labels’ rosters Write and distribute press releases, targeted pitches, and media alerts.
  • Accompany artists to in-person press activities (music festivals, photoshoots, TV tapings, acoustic sessions, office visits, etc.) and connect phone interviews.
  • Regularly send comprehensive press reports to ensure BMG/Rise staff and artists’ management teams are aware of media placement.
  • Manage guest and press lists for artists on tour, and coordinate press schedules for artists on the road and at festivals.
  • Monitor daily press clippings and organize into press reports and electronic press kits.
  • Manage, maintain, and expand online databases of media contacts.
  • Research new media outlets for press opportunities.
  • Draft and edit artist biographies as needed.
  • Provide media training for artists as needed.
  • Advise when hiring third party PR firms, and oversee outside publicity campaigns.

Requirements

Your Profile.
  • You have an interest in music public relations and have at least 4 years of previous experience working at a record label or independent publicity firm.
  • You have a broad knowledge of the digital music landscape including social media and music streaming.
  • You have familiarity with a variety of music genres and having previous experience working with Rock, Pop, and Hip Hop artists and releases are a plus.
  • You are comfortable working in a team and are a self-starter.
  • Your time management skills allow you to meet deadlines easily.
  • You have exceptional attention to detail and the ability to track and follow through on multiple concurrent projects to completion.
Must-Haves
  • You have an interest in music public relations and have significant experience working at a record label or independent publicity firm.
  • Basic understanding of the digital music landscape, streaming and social media.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft.
