Production Coordinator - Music
Description
The Production Coordinator - Music is responsible for assisting the Music Production Manager with all aspects of advancing and executing production aspects of the SXSW Music Festival. These duties include, but are not limited to, ordering necessary A/V equipment, lighting, and power for music venues, ordering stages and ramps, creating equipment paperwork, compilation and distribution performance information to the relevant parties, as well as assisting with the oversight of official music venues, to ensure equipment functionality. The candidate must have a strong knowledge of live performance technology, and confidence to problem solve any production issues related to performance technology onsite. The candidate must exude the calm, professional, and competent demeanor required to work production with SXSW.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Assisting the Music Production Manager in ordering and organizing all A/V for music venues
- Creating and distributing gear lists of all music venues
- Collecting and organizing artist stage plots
- Working with contract technicians and student technicians to ensure a smooth and successful show.
- Participating in venue walk throughs and any necessary venue coordination.
- General administrative assistance to the production team.
- Developing a culture of safety and ensuring implementation of safety measures and provided resources.
- Working with the department leadership to meet budgetary goals.
- Engaging in and utilizing project management efforts.
- Reinforcement of both internal and external customer service efforts.
- Assisting in and contributing to the planning and execution of company-wide activities.
- Attending required staff training and development opportunities, continuing education, and meetings.
- Accountability of productivity and effectiveness of areas of responsibility.
- Supporting and striving to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Reinforcing company policies, procedures and processes, and acting as a role model for others.
On-Site Responsibilities:
- Supervising A/V and staging load-ins.
- Working with contract technicians and student technicians to ensure a smooth and successful show.
- Checking and affirming that all orders were executed correctly onsite.
- Addressing and resolving any production issues.
- Addressing client needs and communicating any issues to the appropriate internal departments
Requirements
- Expertise in live performance equipment and usage of equipment
- Prior experience managing employees or staff
- 3+ years event production experience
- Background that includes experience with high-level audio equipment orders
- Knowledge of performance lighting equipment and power distribution
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Ability to problem solve in high stress situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create grammatically correct documentation in the English language
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail
- Confidence making decisions while working under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working with a team and independently
- Ability to prioritize and manage timelines
- Knowledge of G-Suite, MS Office, and a willingness to learn new software
