UnitedMasters is looking for a systems-thinking Engineering Manager to help lead the future of our distribution platform.
At UnitedMasters we say the Product Team owns the "What" and the "Why". The Engineering Team owns the "How" and the "When". In this role, you will work closely with your team to decide "How" we are going to build a product, service, or feature. You will also, create a clear resourcing plan that explains "When" your team will have the job done.
  • Build and lead an engineering team that is focused on improvements that attract/retain new artists and drive market share in the DIY music distribution space.
  • As a leader of this team you will be tasked with leading backend, QA, web, iOS and Android engineers to build the best music distribution product on the market.
  • Be the engineering owner of digital audio and video distribution products. Drive functionality and quality improvements in these systems. Oversee integrations with industry partners to drive more value for artists.
  • Empower partnerships between engineers and product, design, user research and data science to solve problems for artists.
  • As the EM of the Distribution Pod, you will partner closely with your team leads in Product and Design to keep communicating timelines and roadblocks to the executive team.

Requirements

We are looking for a killer team player who loves music and tech. You must be a strong leader who has a proven track record developing engineers. You are a technical leader who knows how to challenge and motivate your team. As the EM, you know how to guide your team to build simple and scalable solutions
Three must-haves to be successful in this role:
  • Be a highly communicative leader.
  • Customer obsession with a strong bias for action.
  • A deep understanding of technical systems and an innate ability to get into the weeds of the system architecture you are building.
Requirements:
  • You love to develop and recruit engineers. You are an enthusiastic coach and a decisive manager. Your teams are the best in the organization because you analyze your players performance and you are attuned to the organization's business goals.
  • You know how to work with product managers to plan roadmaps and hold your team accountable to their delivery commitments. You are skilled at identifying technical pitfalls and resource constraints, and quick to highlight them to the organization.
  • You jump into Python, JavaScript and SQL to fill in the gaps when your team needs support.
  • You have a CS degree and/or applicable experience as an Engineering Manager.
  • You have experience building solutions that scale.
Nice to haves:
  • Django or similar framework experience.
